This is a simple, few ingredient dessert that can be even more simplified by using a store bought pie crust. Delicious and full of cinnamon apple goodness, its rustic appearance makes for a mistake-free pastry!
For the Crust:
1 recipe Cream Cheese Pie Crust or 1 store bought pie crust
For the Filling:
2-3 granny smith apples peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon soft softened butter for spreading on pastry
1 beat egg for egg wash
Technique:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line half sheet pan.
Roll pie crust into 10 inch round.
Mix filling ingredients together in large bowl.
Spread butter over pie crust and spoon apple mixture onto half of pastry.
Fold other side of pastry over apple mixture and seal edges, folding up and excess pie crust.
Pierce turnover with fork to allow steam of escape and cover with egg wash.
Transfer turnover to prepared sheet pan and bake 40 minutes.
Let cool, cover with powdered sugar and enjoy with ice cream.
